This special concert programme, to be organised to mark the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Portugal (approximately 60 minutes) aims to bring together the cultural heritage of the two countries with the European classical music tradition.
The programme will feature works by Turkish and Portuguese composers, as well as distinguished examples from the European classical music repertoire. Furthermore, traditional melodies and songs selected from Turkish and Portuguese folk cultures will form a significant part of the programme.
Thanks to special arrangements for violin, soprano, bass-baritone and piano, the concert will have a cohesive structure bringing together solo pieces, duets, and vocal and instrumental sections.
The characteristic melodies of Turkish folk music and Portugal’s rich traditional musical heritage will be reinterpreted within the framework of classical music. The concert’s finale is planned to bring together themes selected from Turkish and Portuguese cultures within the same musical framework.
Through this approach, the project will be more than just a concert; it will serve as an artistic expression of the century-long friendship, cultural dialogue and mutual respect between Türkiye and Portugal.
